JUST A TENDER TOUCH

Have you ever felt a need
Filling up your insides
Like an incessant chant
Rising….rising….
Its sharp claws hooked into you
Where it hurts most
Never letting go!

I’m caught in a cage
Of happy mirrors
Somehow,
They turn every teardrop
Into a sparking smile
While the need…. Ah the need….
It pounds, and punches,
And pummels and pushes
It tears me apart and makes me cry
Drowning me, like a lullaby
Dragging me to the edge
Of an aching oblivion,
Yet doesn’t let me fall
Doesn’t let me go

Peer into my eyes
You’ll see an amber sunshine
The perfect cover
For the torment in my soul
It doesn’t ask for much
Not riches, nor undying love
Just a gentle voice
And a hand to hold
