A LOVE LIVED

I crave your words
Their touch upon my pining soul
The way their tears soothe furrows of my pain too...
When did they become the breaths
That I needed to live?
The life blood gushing through my veins?
My voice cracks
The weight of all things unsaid
Hangs heavy between us
My heart burns from the secret scars it holds
My dreams are haunted with memories
Scraps of nostalgic melodies you once crooned
Still float on zephyrs in wistful notes
Will you sing them again, to me?
Will you let your words wander free
Upon the night breeze
Where they can meander into my psyche?
Let me hug them close
Just for a little while
Until I fall asleep
Let them be mine, to keep
Even if it is for a short lived heartbeat
Within a transient dream
Before the fated intrusion of reality
